iPhone 3GSiPhone 3.0 might have given Apple’s cell a much–needed tickle, with MMS, stereo Bluetooth and copy and paste amongst the basics added. Now though, the major upgrade is coming under sustained attack, after iPhone owners found their Wi–Fi coverage virtually nonexistent once they’d installed it. That means hopes are being pinned on a new fix from Apple.

Online grumbles about iPhone 3.0 have gone from a smattering of quiet mutterings to a crescendo of geeky outrage in just a few short weeks. Fanatical Apple site TUAW has been inundated with complaints, with iPhone owners saying their Wi–Fi coverage went from full before installing the update, to nothing once they’d loaded it up with 3.0.

One chap even says he turned the Wi–Fi on his iPhone off, shoved his phone in a freezer bag for ten minutes, turned it back on and still had no coverage. Apple has been issuing replacements, but it appears this is affecting the old iPhone 3G as well as the spangly new iPhone 3GS.

Now punters are pinning their hopes on the forthcoming iPhone 3.1 update. Have you had any Wi–Fi woes since you downloaded iPhone 3.0? Make sure you let us know your tuppence worth in the Electricpig Forum.
