UPDATE: There are no official plans as yet to bring the LG GW300 to the UK, but if that changes, you’ll be the first to know.
The LG GW300 is a brand new, BlackBerry style messaging mobile from the South Korean hi-tech giant, which promises your Facebook, email and IM fix through a spacious keypad, on the cheap. Is it a decent economic QWERTY, or just a busted BlackBerry Bold? Read on to find out what we know.
Got your eyes on a BlackBerry but worried you might just look a bit too stylish rocking one? Try the LG GW300 instead, a phone with the looks and solid keyboard of RIM’s classic BlackBerry chassis, but the bells and whistles stripped out. And some dodgy blue paint daubed on.
The LG GW300 doesn’t have 3G, unfortunately, and the screen is only QVGA resolution, but if all you need is a QWERTY keypad to fling out SMS, emails and Facebook status updates via the integrated client, it’ll do right by you. The LG GW300 is still very much a dumphone mind, but you can still stream MP3 via Stereo Bluetooth to cut the wires when you’re on the move.
An initial release in Spain is expected for the LG GW300, but given LG’s recent launch of two cheap as chips social networking phones over here, we wouldn’t rule out a UK release, and we’re chasing LG for confirmation either way.
