LaCie drops LaCinema Rugged HD

LaCie just dropped the latest version of the LaCinema Rugged HD multimedia player. We say dropped, but “smashed” might be more appropriate, seeing as the 1080p playing hard drive is designed to stand all but the biggest bumps, knocks and chops. Ideal if, er, your home cinema is hooked up on a cliff edge. Read on to find out when and where you can nab one of your own.

This time round, the LaCie LaCinema Rugged HD ups the ante by offering full HD playback, meaning you’ll be able to make good use of all 1,080 pixels up your screen. The LaCie LaCinema Rugged HD packs a 500GB hard drive capable of storing up to 700 films,  composite and HDMI output, and comprehensive codec support including H.264, MKV, WMV9 and MP4, as well as remote so you won’t need to squat in front of the set top boxes to pick your evening’s entertainment.

The LaCie LaCinema Rugged HD is “rugged” for a reason too of course: as well as a scratch-resistant shell, it’s got anti-shock absorbers and rubber bumpers, handy since it’s so portable, and hooks up to any PC or Mac via USB. You can pick one up right now from £259.99 from the LaCie online shop, but check out LaCie’s LaCinema Rugged HD up close first in our official photo gallery!
