B&O Beovision 7

The B&O B&O BeoVision 7 is a stunning. Or at least, its price tag is. At a wallet-wilting £6,000 you’d expect there to be something pretty special behind that 40-inch Full HD LCD screen. Thankfully, there is.

The BeoVision 7 isn’t just a swoon-worthy TV. It has a full-blown Blu-Ray player built in too. And not just any Blu-ray player, a profile 2.0 version with Dolby 7.1 EX and DTS ES 6.1 surround sound. In short, the BeoVision 7 is a full-blown cinema, clad in gorgeous minimalist styling.

But what styling! M&O has crammed in a motorised stand that turns the TV to face you, and can link up to BeoVision home automation kit to automatically dim the lights and draw the curtain. Even the Blu-ray tray glows subtly, so you can swap discs in the dark without fumbling.

As you’d expect, Blu-ray playback is tip-top, and audio quality it excellent too. BeoSound 7-2 or 7-4 speakers are supplied, with the latter also packing B&O’s acoustic lens system to produce fantastic sound no matter what shape your room.

The BeoVision 7 does have drawbacks however, even aside from its high price. The connections between cables feel slightly fragile, and the quality of its screen is bettered by more modern LCD and plasma panels.

However, if you can afford the outlay for a BeoVision 7, you’re unlikely to be trifled by such matters. Make no mistake, this is a poser’s TV. A decent quality picture and with unsurpassed styling, yes. But it’s by no means perfect, and above all, it’s appalling value for money.
