Beatles Rock BandBeatles Rock Band will still be doing its Fab Four thing from 9 September, in spite of Michael Jackson’s untimely demise. That’s the official word from Harmonix, commenting on rumours that MJ’s ownership of The Beatles back catalogue would compromise the release date of Beatles Rock Band and even the tracklisting.

Harmonix’s new effort, Beatles Rock Band, wowed crowds at E3 in LA, with Macca and Ringo on hand to give it a double thumbs up at the Xbox press conference. But Michael Jackson’s death a fortnight ago has raised questions about whether the game will really rock out from September.

Jacko bought ATV music publishing in 1985, which owned a massive 200 Beatles tunes. That was in spite McCartney’s best efforts to stymy the deal by joining MJ on cloying classics Say Say Say and The Girl Is Mine. But Harmonix says his death, and the catalogue’s unclear future, won’t affect Beatles Rock Band.

Speaking to IGN, Harmonix said Beatles Rock Band was still on course and there were no plans to change the game’s tracks. Apple Corps and Harmonix announced at E3 that on top of the main tracklisting, classic albums would be available for download to boot. Abbey Road will be first up. Duelling guitars on The End remain unconfirmed.
