There’s just one bit of news on every tech-head’s lips today: Google confirming the Chrome OS. The search giant is going head to head with Microsoft on its home turf, but can it win? It’s had the Electricpig Forum in a right tizzy.
Bongo reckons there’s no chance of Google gaining ground, since “Chrome doesn’t sound like it does anything Windows doesn’t already, but just a bit quicker.”
While Mikeybee thinks the Chrome OS will toddle along alongside Windows, but fail to make a dent, in the same way Linux has done on netbooks.
“It’ll only make sense when it’s universal and that means it shipping on every machine and ‘corporates’ using it across the line,” he says. “Not saying it doesn’t stand a chance but it’s gonna be a long slow burn.”
Google’s got some support though. Coopinho can already sense Microsoft flinching at “Google’s irritating flames licking its ankles” asking whether the Big M has a battle plan, or “is Microsoft a toothless dog nowadays?”
The debate’s raging on: Have your say in the Electricpig Forum.

I can’t see Google Chrome challenging the Windows os, M$ seem to have the PC market stitched up and won’t allow anyone to muscle in without being bought out , but I am currently trying out taking my operating system from PC to PC on a 4GB pen-drive,
