Super Mario Galaxy has been given the HD treatment by emulator types Dolphin, now meaning you can buzz about in a bee suit in 720p HD. How does it look? And what does it tell us about the much–mooted Wii HD. Read on to find out.

Super Mario Galaxy is one of the hottest games on the Wii. And now donning a bee suit and zipping about space dressed as an overweight plumber can be done in 720p HD. Emulator types Dolphin have managed to get Super Mario Galaxy running on their latest release, showing just how good it would look on a Wii HD.

The tarted up version of the game may be of the homebrew variety, but it clearly shows far more crisp and clear detail than the standard def offering you’ll currently find on the Wii.

While the Wii might not come packing HD, surely this points to a future Wii HD hub. Such a killer console would help Ninty maintain its position well ahead of the Xbox 360 and PS3, as well as offering more media hub capabilties that it currently struggles with.
