O2 has snagged the Palm Pre. What’s more, the network says its going on sale in the UK in time for the “holidays”. That means Christmas, of course, not your yearly jaunt to Skegness, but has O2 just guaranteed itself a very happy Christmas and a profitable new year? One thing’s for sure: it has the Electricpig forum up in arms!
Spider86 reckons Palm has left the Pre too late. “Competitors have had 12 months to design and release newer better phones shortly after the Pre comes out” while Electricpig’s own Ben Sillis thinks Apple itself could spoil the Pre launch with a brand new iPhone.
And what’s a debate without a little bit of shouting? Forum member Bongo is outraged that it’s O2 to bag the Pre first, having a rant about the network’s performance and service.
But it’s not wall-to-wall rage. Some are just a bit confused. Jojo thinks the Pre is an odd choice for O2. Describing the Pre as a “phone whose main selling point is apps and that it’ll work with iTunes…. but O2 already sells the iPhone which does both of those things really well.”
What do you reckon? Will the Pre spell festive joy for O2? Dive into our Forum and get stuck in!
