microsoft-xbox-360The Microsoft Xbox 360 has outsold all of its rivals in the UK this year, according to the latest figures released by Gfk Chart-Track.

Analysis of the difference between Chart-Track figures released in late January and those released now, at the end of June, collated by Gamezine.co.uk, show that the Microsoft Xbox 360 had sold 600,000 units in that time period. The Nintendo Wii sold 300,000 and the Nintendo DS and DSi together sold 400,000. The Sony PS3 sold 300,000 and the Sony PSP sold 100,000.

The overall picture still has the Nintendo DS and DSi having outsold all other consoles over its lifetime, with the Nintendo Wii the bestselling home console too. Lifetime sales are (in descending order): Nintendo DS/DSi – 9.4 million; Nintendo Wii – 5.4 million; Microsoft Xbox 360 – 3.9 million; Sony PSP – 3.3 million; Sony PS3 – 2.2 million.

With sales momentum for the Nintendo Wii apparently slowing though, does this mean the WiiHD/Wii Plus won’t come a moment too soon? Or will Nintendo’s Wii Sports Resort, MotionPlus and late 2009 blockbusters boost sales anyway?

I suspect many of those 360 sales are RROD replacements. Most consumers don’t even know about the scheme, and throw it in the bin and buy another one (because they are locked in with their pre-existing games).

I serously doubt that beings rrod has all but vanished with the newer 360 after jan 1 . it just has a better larger game lineup over the lifetime and people are relizing bluray is just a niche product not a massive jump in technology .

sorry but is this site call electric pig shit – never gonna read anymore crap from this site again if you can't post actual facts. I'll think you find that the Wii sold more units in 2009 than the xbox360, so did the PS3, it closed the gap to 6 million. Now in 2010 the gap is below 5 million. What total lying twat can post such lies….
