Market sources from Taiwan are claiming that several huge phone manufacturers have snapped up the powerful NVIDIA Tegra chip used in the Zune HD, with whispers that Samsung and Motorola may be the first adopters. Could they be behind the T-Mobile Tegra phone we heard about?
Got the salt cellar ready? Good. DigiTimes has it from anonymous sources that now, several top-five handset makers have ordered the NVIDIA Tegra chip, which allows for potentially days of battery life under intensive use, as well as 720p video and 3D accelerated graphics.
That ties in with the rumour that T-Mobile had landed a Tegra-powered phone from a top 5 company, but the sources go on to suggest that Samsung and Motorola are the first clients.
We’re excited by the prospect of a Samsung Tegra phone, given just how powerful the hardware inside the Samsung Jet and Omnia 2 is already, but we’re also interested to see if it could help Motorola turn the tide after years of lacklustre models.
This isn’t definite of course, but with the Zune HD out in the US in the Autumn, there’s no reason why we won’t find out about more Tegra phones very shortly.

Tegra, Android and Samsung’s gorgeous hi-res AMOLED screen. That sounds like one hell of a delicious recipe.
