The newly announced Digital Vision GiGo DV-DTR1 is a handy solution for anyone who finds themselves regularly wading through their DVR to delete recorded shows and free up space on the hard drive: it ditches the storage altogether, letting you add your own USB boot space so you can take your TV shows with you wherever you go!
Plug any form of USB memory into one of the three ports on the Digital Vision GiGo DV-DTR1 and you can record Freeview in MPEG2. A simple interface with an EPG lets you set timers for shows, and you can even record one channel while watching a recorded show from a USB stick.
Although at £69.99 the Digital Vision GiGo DV-DTR1 is barely £20 cheaper than Tesco’s cheapest 250GB HDD DVR, it’s ideal if you want to keep programmes permanently, take them and watch them on a laptop, or have an even bigger external hard disk to hand already. It might even help persuade your grandparents to give up their crumbling VCR player, since they’ll be able to put sticky labels on all the USB sticks.
You’ll be able to add the Digital Vision GiGo DV-DTR1 to your trolley at Tesco in September.
