Palm PrePalm is to announce details of the exclusive Palm Pre deal with O2, next week. The deal, first rumoured back in May, will make O2 the official Palm Pre partner in the UK.

The Palm Pre may have been tipped to take on the iPhone, but for O2 – in the UK at least – that will be win-win. The Guardian reports that Palm is about to confirm O2 as having won the rights to the Pre, beating off stiff competition from Orange. It is expected that Carphone Warehouse will also stock the phone, offering deals on the regular O2 packages.

The O2 deal has been rumoured for some time, and reports suggest that the Pre will be released in the Europe in September. A Palm Pre sporting a Euro-friendly GSM SIM was spotted in Vietnam recently, as we mentioned yesterday.

Palm launched the Palm Pre on the US Sprint network last month and managed to sell over 50,000 handsets in the first weekend.

Out September 2009 (TBC)| £TBA | Palm (via The Guardian)
