doom-resurrection-for-apple-iphoneThe Apple iPhone is to receive a slew of id Software-related games soon, including Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein and even Rage titles, id’s John Carmack has confirmed.

In the week that new on-rails shooter Doom Resurrection launched for the Apple iPhone, ports of “classic” id titles to the Apple iPhone were announced that will include Doom, Quake, Quake II and Quake III, Carmack told Kotaku. On top of that, Carmack is also working on from-scratch, new games built specifically for the Apple iPhone, including one relating to id’s upcoming post-apocalyptic cars-and-guns game Rage.

And there’s more turn-based role-playing Apple iPhone gaming coming too. Doom II RPG is on the way. And Wolfenstein RPG is complete and just waiting for Electronic Arts to release it. “They were worried about selling people two Wolfenstein titles at once,” after Carmack released Wolfenstein 3D Classic.

Finally, Carmack is working on some technical texture rendering ideas specifically for the Apple iPhone 3GS, with a view to making games specifically for Apple’s most powerful gaming handheld to date.
