DJ-Hero-controllerDJ Hero, the upcoming Activision spin-off of the Guitar Hero series for the Sony PS2 and PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, is to retail for a recommended price of £107.99, according to one online retailer.

Eurogamer have quoted an online retailer as saying that the official price for DJ Hero will be £108. In the US, the official price for the game is $120, around £73. When Guitar Hero launched in the UK, with a plastic guitar controller, the price was £70.

The DJ Hero pack does include the wireless and rather cool-looking DJ Hero controller, pictured here. But HMV and others are already pricing DJ Hero significantly lower than the apparent officially recommended price. HMV has pre-order listings for DJ Hero for £100 for the Sony PS3, Nintendo Wii and Microsoft Xbox 360 versions.

With no guarantee that dance music mash-ups and DJing will prove as immediately popular with consumers as rock guitar action, it seems a slightly daft decision for Activision to hike the price up so high, and risk consumer apathy towards the product.
