UPDATE: Dell just confirmed that “the Inspiron Mini 10 with GPS is expected to be available in the UK in the coming weeks.” Get in!
Dell will soon launch a new option for the Dell Mini 10 netbook, with built-in GPS and location-sensing features out of the box, so you can turn your netbook into a satnav on the road!
Starting next week, you’ll be able to buy a Dell Wireless 700 location solution for new Windows XP Dell Mini 10 netbooks, which combines location-sensing hardware and software.
On the hardware side, the new Dell Mini 10 will come with an internal GPS card with Wi-Fi locationing, so you can pin point yourself even inside buildings. On the software side, you’ll get CoPilot navigation for turn-by-turn directions while driving, and location-sensing plugins pre-installed in both Internet Explorer and Firefox for accurate and easy local search on supported sites like Flickr, Loopt and BrightKite.
Don’t bin your satnav just yet though: the Dell Wireless 700 option for the Dell Mini 10 is a US only right now, but don’t rule out a UK release once the computer maker finds us on the map.
