iphone_c64The iPhone is fast becoming home to many forms of retro gaming applications, but one of the most promising – a licensed Commodore 64 emulator – has failed to make it past Apple’s labyrinthine App Store approvals process. It’s a big disappointment to those who want to enjoy a bit of gaming nostalgia from their handset, which is more than up to the task. More importantly, it’s yet more proof that something is completely wrong with the App Store approval system.

Google Chrome can be used to handily maximise real screen estate on small laptopsOne person disagreed with my complaint about the 600 pixel screen height, saying all I needed to do was press F11 to make the browser full screen. Maybe I am spoilt by a large iMac screen, but I really hate making apps full screen. I am often flipping between multiple apps and I find it much less convenient to tab between them or unmax, reselect, remax. It is not just desktops which have large screens. Plenty of laptops do too. But even going full screen, I don’t find 600px plenty. I am writing this on a screen with multiple windows open at a height of more than 1000px. It is not easy to get used to working with 600px.

Despite Mass Effect 2 being in full production, the game’s developers BioWare are hinting that there will be an announcement imminently, and a pulled listing for Mass Effect on the Microsoft Xbox 360′s Xbox Live Games On Demand pages seems to confirm the news.
