It’s fun to mock those who feel compelled to report their every inane activity using Twitter, but worryingly there are those who even need to Tweet their vital statistics on the social networking site. For these Twitter addicts, there’s The Akiduki Pulse box – a new device that will post your heart rate at the touch of a button.
It’s a matter of some debate as to what happens to your online persona once you die, so the Akiduki Pulse box could be handy for ensuring that at least one set of internet friends is kept in the loop. Mind you, you’d have to be departing this mortal coil at the same time as using the Akiduki Pulse box – you have to press a button on the box for a few seconds to have your mortality status published online.
Under normal circumstances, that would simply inform people whether your heart rate is slower than 60 beats per minute, normal or running high. We’re not sure what you’re going to do with that information afterwards though, other than recommend that you cut back on coffees.
What’s most clever is that the box is able to connect to Twitter without a PC being involved. If we could just drop the nonsense heart rate monitor part and install a few tilt switches and photoresistors instead, you could have an interesting home security device.
