dell_wasabi_pz310Dell has announced that it is now selling its first Zero-ink photo printer – the Wasabi PZ310 – in the US. Its inkless design, or ZINK, works by using a special kind of paper, and means there’s no chance of an unsightly leak appearing in your trouser pocket.

If the Dell Wasabi PZ310 sounds like the sort of thing that’s really Polaroid’s turf, then you won’t be surprised to learn that Polaroid has been selling the very same tech inside standalone Bluetooth printers and cameras for some time.

Actually, according to Dell and Polaroids’ specs, the Wasabi PZ310 is a little slower than than the rival Polaroid PoGo – 55 seconds compared to 40. The print size is the same at 2×3 inches, and the connectivity is the same: PictBridge USB and Bluetooth. Dell’s printer offers only about 15 prints per charge compared to Polaroid’s claimed 20.

Polaroid PoGo can be picked up for around £50 online. Dell’s Wasabi PZ310 is only available in US right now. It’s $150 across the pond, but we’ll need to a side-by-side comparison and get UK pricing, particularly for the paper refills, before we can call an outright winner. The advantage seems to be in Polaroid’s court for the time being though.

Out TBA | Approx £90 (TBC) | Dell (via TechRadar)
