Orange won’t be the only UK network touting the drool-worthy Android-powered HTC Hero. Android fan T-Mobile is also going to be selling the multi-touch handset, although it’ll be going under the guise of the T-Mobile G1 Touch.
T-Mobile expects to release the G1 Touch / HTC Hero from mid-July and it’ll be free if you sign up for a £40 per month Flext contract. Technically Orange’s deal undercuts that at £39.15 per month, but while Orange’s contract is 24 months, T-Mobile’s (current) Flext tariff only wants your commitment for 18 months, so actually that’s a £219.60 difference in the long run.
There’s another way to help you decide between the HTC Hero and the T-Mobile G1 Touch too. T-Mobile is getting an exclusive black version, while Orange gets an equally exclusive graphite version.
