How cool is this – facial recognition software! Ok, I know that last sentence makes me sound like an excited teenager but quite frankly I feel like an excited teenager after using it!
It was amazing, I found this little ‘SmartLogon Manager’ icon on my desktop and my face appeared on screen – I had no idea what was going on at this point. So I clicked the little camera next to my face and it started clicking madly, ‘oh no, what have I done?’
Anyway, 30 clicks later and it reckons it’s captured my image so I leave it on the medium security setting and close the window.
I go about my business, using the internet even though I’m all curled up on the sofa – I’m liking this wireless thing; it’s much more comfortable than my cramped metal desk with keyboard tray that doesn’t quite pull out far enough.
The connection is amazing too – it’s already online before Windows has even finished loading even though I’m considerably further away from the wireless router than my PC (which takes at least 5-10 minutes to connect every time).
So I get distracted by something on TV and my laptop goes into standby or hibernation, I can’t remember which. I switch back on barely paying attention and as I look at the screen this little square comes around my face, which is now being shown via the webcam, and it reads ‘Lauren login’. It then logs me in without a password! Now I’m sure this isn’t very exciting if you’ve already got this kind of thing but I was absolutely amazed!
As you can see from my photo, it actually does ‘see’ your face, Teddy had no luck trying to hack in!
Now I’ve nearly given up with the fingerprint scanner, which I’m starting to think was invented to annoy me, I think I’ll be using SmartLogin in the future – better not change my hair style though!
Next time, I’m going to have some fun – so it’ll either be computer games or DVD’s for me.
