We know the Nokia N97 is a pretty tough piece of kit thanks to its beautifully built slide mechanism and solid build, but if you needed further proof, one of the poor smartphones has been put through a modern day gauntlet, slashed with keys, dropped in a cereal bowl and run under the tap. The Nokia N97 launched on Friday alongside the iPhone 3G S, and while you’d expect people to start trashing it come the end of contract, we certainly didn’t expect them to after forking out 500 simoleons. The guys over at N97 Geeks aren’t so fussed about their possessions, clearly, as they’ve put the Nokia N97 through a major stress test to see how rugged it is.
The Nokia N97 survived a screen scratch test without breaking a sweat, so it looks like you won’t have to worry about scuffs with your keys. What’s more disturbing/relieving is that the Nokia N97 also brushed off a dip in a bowl of cereal. It’s good to know that it’ll survive a bit of a splash here and there, but N97 Geeks took things a step further by washing off the corn flakes in a sink. That put the Nokia N97 out of action for a good few hours, but miraculously, after drying out, it’s now working again.
