Google Maps just rolled out a new feature, “What’s Here?”, a headsmackingly simple but superb addition that’ll let you pull up all the Maps and user-generated info around a spot just by right-clicking on it.
Previously, you’ve only been able to search for local attractions in an area by name, location or category, but the new “What’s Here?” option when you right click on Google Maps works the other way by pulling up points of interest around the location you click, as well as listing business at a specific address.
The Google Maps features also brings up user-created maps and geotagged photos and videos, and it’s both a great way to explore areas not on Street View (Like large parks) and work out your route visually, as well as just sate your random curiosities. The Google Maps tool also works at different zoom levels, so you can check out the whole of a city from afar, or zoom in on a specific street.
The Google Maps “What’s Here?” feature is out now to test on the desktop version, although we reckon there’s much more potential for this on mobiles, so we’ve got our fingers crossed for an update.
