Project-Natal-Microsoft-Xbox-360Microsoft Xbox 360s are to come with built-in Project Natal motion-sensing camera and voice-recognition technology from 2010, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has announced. Speaking to The Executive’s Club Of Chicago, Ballmer said the new Xbox 360 hardware would provide a “natural interface” and described Natal technology as “really, really close” to being finished and ready for production.

Ballmer’s comments about a new version of the Xbox 360 including Project Natal technology apparently caught the rest of Microsoft by surprise, with other executives scrambling to explain them. Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft Director, Xbox 360 Product Management And Xbox Live, admitted to Kotaku: “we have looked at [producing an Xbox 360 with built-in Natal technology] but we haven’t announced any details for something like that.”

Greenberg went on to stress that Ballmer certainly wasn’t talking about an entirely new generation Xbox 720: “We are saying that the Natal will run on the Xbox 360, so there’s no new hardware to purchase. We’re barely halfway through this generation. We’re happy with the Xbox 360, so there are no changes from that standpoint.”

    “We’re happy with the Xbox 360″ Good for them.. However consumers aren’t 4 years on, and they still haven’t fixed the RROD or disc scratching issues, and developers are struggling with growing pains for the console, due to it’s last-gen features like DVD and no HDD.

    @MetalMickey

    lol at you and you’re childish comments. DVD is now last-gen even though the majority of PS3 games and Blu-Rays are small enough to fit on one Dual-Layer DVD?

    I have a PS3, Wii and 360 and I spend most my time on the 360. Four years on and I’m as happy as a pig in shit. Sure; it has it’s problems and it’s noisy as hell but it’s by far the best console on the market for gamers in my mind.

    The Wii is gathering dust and the PS3 acts as my trusty Media Centre and the occasional game (Little Big Planet & Infamous).

    Don’t quote facts when you’re most certainly not speaking on behalf of the whole. Have noticed the majority of your posts are slandarous against MS and I for one find your comments entertaining at the most. Puts a smile on my face that there are still muppets like you out there who think that there views are those of everyone.

    Goodluck in life; I have an incline you’ll need it.

    xbox360 are trash save your money dont buy one they break to easy and microsoft wont make good on repairs over 3 years.

  • Djjoseloco

    They were designed poorly they overheat and break way to easy. Poorly designed cooling system on them in the first place. It was a known design flaw that microsoft knew and wont make good on a repair over 3 years even if there repair flaw was cause by there poor design and poor cooling. Microsoft wants them to break down so they can make money on repairing them. Microsoft can even send you the 3 red rings of dealth over the network. Its like they are programmed to break.

    Ive had mine for 3 years and it broke one cooling fan not working I had to repair mine myself. I had to tap off a usb drive to get power for my second fan. The thing was refirbished meaning repaired when i bought it and it breaks again after 3 years no thanks keep your faulty trash.

    Ive had the red rings of dealth several times and i took mine appart and i unplug the cooling fan let it overheat then turn it back on it works fine. If this is true fact is they can send you the redlight rings of death via network like a virus to break the xbox360 or cause 3rings of death. They have a life spand there programmed to work so long then break down. Ive heard rumors that they can send you 3 red lights from a microsoft employee.
