Uncharted 2: Among Thieves for the Sony PS3 and Brutal Legend, Tim “Psychonauts” Schafer’s freeroaming heavy metal action adventure, Brutal Legend, starring Jack Black, have dominated the influential Game Critics Best Of E3 2009 awards, taking four nominations apiece, including Best Of Show.
Uncharted 2 could be gonged for Best Of Show, Best Console Game, Best Action/Adventure and Best Online Multiplayer. Brutal Legend for Best Of Show, Best Original Game, Best Action/Adventure and Best Console Game.
Left 4 Dead 2, despite controversy, also did well to pick up three nominations (Best PC Game, Best Action Game, Best Online Multiplayer). As did Mass Effect 2 (Best Of Show, Best Console Game, Best Role Playing Game), Modern Warfare 2 (Best Of Show, Best Console Game, Best Action Game), oddball Nintendo DS game Scribblenauts (Best Social/Casual, Best Handheld Game, Best Original Game) and Star Wars: The Old Republic (Best PC Game, Best Role Playing Game, Best Online Multiplayer).
Megasite IGN has already announced its winners of E3 2009. Overall Game Of The Show goes to Scribblenauts, which picks up a whole series of other gongs including Special Achievement For Innovation.
