Panasonic 85-inch plasma unveiled103-inch plasma HTDVs a bit too expensive? Try this Panasonic 85-inch plasma display instead. The Japanese giant has just unveiled it at tradeshow InfoComm 09, for anyone flush with cash and sick of having to put four flatscreens together to stretch their movies across a whole wall.

This here Panasonic 85-inch plasma display doles out 1080p visuals, and despite stretching more than two metres wide, is under 10cm thick, and at 130kg, 30% lighter per inch of screen space than its bigger brother.

Bang & Olufsen 103-inch Plasma unveiled

Panasonic is keen to point out that the 85-inch plasma is big enough to show a person at lifesize when vertical. We’re not sure what real use that is, but it could lead to actors promoting the films they’re in on screen as you walk into cinemas, or an electronic version of Madame Tussauds.

Unsurprisingly, the Panasonic 85-inch plasma is aimed at businesses rather than us public peeps (unlike the 108-inch Sharp LCD TV), but if you know how to pull the right strings and shake the right hands you’ll be able to get hold of one in Japan or the US in the Autumn.
