An LG OLED TV will go on sale from later this year, going head to head against the Sony XEL-1, according to an LG Display top dog.
We saw LG’s beautiful OLED TV prototype back at CES in January, but now we know when the super-slim screen will be making its way to shelves. In an interview with OLED-Info, Won Kim, VP of OLED sales and marketing at LG Display said the 15-inch LG OLED TV will hit South Korea “during the period of Dec 2009-Jan 2010″, with a “global roll-out (following)”.
That’s good news for anyone who fancies dipping into the OLED TV market, but wants something slightly bigger than the puny 11-inch Sony XEL-1. We don’t know if this first LG OLED TV will stick to walls or survive being smashed with a hammer, but we’ve got our fingers crossed a bit of competition will help bring down the monstrous price for OLED TV.
