Not content to let the Sony Walkman X-Series sit for a while, Sony’s outed another new model, the tiny clip-on Sony Walkman Zappin, and it comes packing tons of features the iPod shuffle doesn’t. Like, say, a screen, buttons and a decent battery life.
The Sony Walkman Zappin takes on the traditional USB key shape of micro MP3 players, as well as some of the standard specs: you can fill the Sony Walkman Zappin with 2GB of songs via drag and drop (No random Sony proprietary software in sight), with MP3 and WMA both supported. There’s also an FM radio should you feel the urge to tune in and drop out.
Sony X-Series Walkman hands-on!
The real novelty here though? Despite weighing just 26g, the Sony Walkman Zappin finds space for a screen, physical control buttons and a battery good for 18 hours of audio. Compare that to the iPod shuffle’s 10 hours, and Sony ought to have gym freaks sold already.
There are no release details just yet for the Sony Walkman Zappin, but we’ll send them on over to you when we get them.

And most importantly, as with all Walkmans, is bound to sound 100x better than the crappy sound that emits from everything portable that Apple produces.
