Vodafone rolls out Twitter holiday map mash-upVodafone‘s got a cool new Twitter mash-up you can contribute to right now: a map showing where Brits are heading on their hols this Summer.

Twitter is a great way to come up with realtime, crowd-sourced web mash ups thanks to its freely available API, and Vodafone’s taken full advantage of it with its new #ukhols map.

The premise is simple: just twitter (or text 86444) the hashtag #ukhol along with your age, sex, first half of your postcode and holiday destination and up your journey pops on the Vodafone/Twitter Google map.

You can see what the top 10 destinations are right now (New York and Paris in 1 and 2 are to be expected, but Istanbul and Seoul make surprise appearances in the top 10) on the map and even slap on pictures of your holiday location with TwitPic. Don’t worry about break ins though: it doesn’t require you to make your holiday dates public!

The map is tied in with Vodafone’s scheme to scrap the roaming charge for calls made abroad until the end of August, and is already pulling in large numbers of fans, so have a look and let everyone know where you’re off to, be it Bognor or Bolivia.
