red-faction-guerilla-marketingRed Faction: Guerrilla, the free-roaming Mars-based action-adventure, has been guerrilla marketed in a particularly inventive way. A car was left in Covent Garden, London, this week, with 100 copies of the game inside and a sledgehammer chained next to the vehicle. What did people do to get the game? Smash and grab, of course.

“Red Faction Guerrilla features the world’s most realistic destruction engine,” said Simon Watts, PR Manager, THQ. The company says it wanted to “find out how many people would stop in a busy city street to work out some stress by smashing their way into a car to earn a copy of the brand new game.”

Passersby were apparently encouraged to hit the car and grab a copy of the game. It would have been far more interesting to see how long the car would have lasted without encouragement in different areas of London.

Out now | £50 | Red Faction: Guerrilla (available for Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 at Game.co.uk)
