HTC Touch Pro2HTC has seen a lot of interest in its line of Android mobiles, but that doesn’t mean it has abandoned Windows Mobile. Quite the opposite, in fact – HTC France CEO Frédéric Tassy has announced, “We will always have more flagship products on Windows Mobile.”

On the face of it, this seems reasonable enough. HTC has a fine pedigree of Windows Mobile handsets and has some great models out like the Touch HD, which remains HTC’s best-selling handset in Europe – outselling the Android phones by some margin.

It does seem a little short sighted, though. What if – as seems likely – Android really takes off? What if – as is certainly possible – Windows Mobile 6.5 is a bit of a damp squib?

Still, rash claims may just be the order of the day over at HTC France. Check out this gem:

“But I think at the end of the year, the iPhone will become just another product. We have been in discussion for many months with mobile operators, I can assure you they want something else now.”

Ok. Well, best of luck with that!
