UPDATE: Archos UK has confirmed the Archos 9 PC Tablet and the rest of the new line up will be coming to the UK. The only price we know so far though is the Archos 3, which will retail for around £80.
Archos unveiled a new line up of gizmos at an event in Paris yesterday, and top of the line was the hulking Archos 9 PC Tablet, a UMPC powering Windows 7 on an 8.9-inch touchscreen. But where’s the Android tablet, Archos? Come meet the whole line in our gallery.
We didn’t get a Mac tablet at WWDC on Monday, and Archos is still keeping the Android Internet Tablet it promised under wraps somewhere, but the Archos 9 PC Tablet ought to keep most people occupied while we wait. The Archos 9 PC Tablet takes on the MID form that’s fallen out of favour in recent years, packing inside it an 80GB hard drive, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a dual antenna digital TV tuner, an Atom Z515 1.2GHz processor and 1024×600 rezzie screen.
There’s the option of built in HSPA for mobile internet, and the Archos 9 PC Tablet is set to ship (Across the Channel at least) in the Autumn for €500 (£425), with an enormous 12-inch version following in 2010.
Archos also unveiled two new laptops at the event, the Archos 10s netbook, which packs most of the original’s specs in a slimmer shell, and the much more intriguing Archos 13, an inch thin 13-inch laptop with a 120GB hard drive, 1280×800 screen, Intel ULV 1.2GHz processor and a 10 cell battery. HDMI out is also in there, and the whole shebang will set you back €700 (£600) around the same time.
Finally, Archos wheeled out the Archos 3, a PMP with a 3-inch touchscreen and 8GB flash drive that ought to appease any iPod nano fans with a craving for mobile movies – we hear a €100 (£85) pricetag is on the cards.
So, no Android tablet from Archos, which is a bit of a slap in the face after it said a Q3 release was on the cards, then sent out a distinctly Android-coloured invite, but Archos’ CEO did say another event was due in September so it could still meet that target.
