T-Mobile logoWe told you yesterday how T-Mobile was investigating claims that user details had been hacked and held hostage, but if you’re a T-Mobile customer there’s no need for alarm: the company says there’s “no evidence” of data being hijacked. Read on for the full T-Mobile statement.

The original claim on the Full Disclosure message board alleged that T-Mobile’s databases and confidential and financial documents had been hacked and copied. Not so, says T-Mobile. Here’s the official response in full:

“Following a recent online posting that someone allegedly accessed T-Mobile servers, the company is conducting a thorough investigation and at this time has found no evidence that customer information, or other company information, has been compromised.  Reports to the contrary are inaccurate and should be corrected.

“T-Mobile continues to monitor this situation and as a precaution has taken additional measures to further ensure our customers’ information and our systems are protected.  As is our standard practice, customers can be assured if there is any evidence that customer or system information has been compromised, we would inform those affected as quickly as possible.”

So, nothing to see here folks. Still, it’s good to see T-Mobile taking even the most immature hoax like this seriously – you can never be too sure when it comes to customer data security. Consider this case closed unless more evidence leaks online.
