smart fortwo BRABUS electric drive spotted in Blighty

The smart fortwo BRABUS electric drive unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year has just popped up in the UK for the first time: see all the pics here of this electric eccentric.

Micro motor maker smart plans to release its next gen smart fortwo electric drive later this year, stepping up to mass production by 2012, but if you really want to look stylish slotting into non-existent parking spaces, you’ll be wanting the tooled up smart fortwo BRABUS version instead.

Aside from the matt, lime-green paint job and leather interiors, the smart fortwo BRABUS electric drive has a lithium-ion battery on the bottom, which will charge to 80% in three hours, or 100% in 8, and should provide more than juice to meet your commuting needs for around £1 a refill.

Best of all though, the smart fortwo BRABUS electric drive comes wih a sound generator to throw in revving noises so pedestrians will still hear it coming. We couldn’t test drive the car itself, but we heard them in action, and they’re absurd, letting you roar like a boyracer or make warping sounds like something out of Star Trek.

Kinda makes you want to sell your car to get that government discount right now, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, there are no plans to release the smart fortwo BRABUS electric drive just yet, but check out the pictures in our gallery right here if you fancy a bit of modding yourself.
