Sandisk Sansa Fuze

The name Sandisk has always sounded like some sort of feminine hygiene product to us, but get past that and the company actually makes some excellent portable media players. Case in point: the Sandisk Sansa Fize.

Barely bigger than a packet of ten Marlboro, the Sandisk Sansa Fuze still manages to squeeze in a 1.9-inch screen that delivers some visual sparks. That said you wouldn’t want to watch a full-length movie on there or you’ll end up squinting like an octogenarian having an eye test.

Sandisk has shoved 8GB of memory in the Sansa Fuze, but if that doesn’t sound like it’ll hold half your music collection, then the microSD card slot will double your luck and your storage. There’s even a built-in radio for funzies. Turn it up loud and the audio quality stands comparison with the Creatives and Sony’s of this world, especially if you ditch the supplied earphones (why is Sony the only company to provide decent cans with its players?).

Our only real criticisms here are the control wheel – it’s not as intuitive as the Click Wheel on the iPods (but then what is?) – and the rather ‘beige’ clothes and features list (there aren’t any extras here). That said, this is also unbelievable value, costing less than £50. This Fuze, ladies and gentlemen, is the bomb!
