Apple’s been keeping a close lid on what’s actually inside the iPhone 3G S since it was unveiled on Monday, only going so far as to tell us that the S stands for speed. Not anymore though: the innards are out, so read on to find out what’s under the bonnet of the next iPhone blower.
We’re clear now that T-Mobile doesn’t leak customer data, but it’s not so fussed about Apple’s peculiarities and requests to keep specs under wraps. T-Mobile in the Netherlands briefly put up the full list for the iPhone 3G S on its site yesterday, and while it was swiftly taken down again, the cat’s now out of the bag.
iPhone 3G S: all the official photos
As expected the iPhone 3G S has had a bump in RAM and clock speed, with 256MB of memory now onboard compared to 128MB in the first iPhone, and a 600MHz processor (As rumoured), picking things up from a 412MHz trot on the first two iPhones to a canter, which puts it exactly on a par with the Palm Pre.
What noticeable improvements this leads to remains to be seen, but Apple’s so sure we’ll be able to tell, it’s stuck an S on the end. Expect more dissections and details come release day
