T-Mobile logoUPDATE: T-Mobile says it’s found “no evidence” of any info being compromised. Click here for the full statement.

T-Mobile is investigating claims that its internal servers may have been hacked, resulting in the loss of huge amounts of customer data.

T-Mobile received a message via the Full Disclosure message boards from a group that claimed it had accessed T-Mobile’s servers and was auctioning the data they had found to the highest bidder.

We have everything, their databases, confidential documents, scripts and programs from their servers, financial documents up to 2009.

We already contacted with their competitors and they didn’t show interest in buying their data -probably because the mails got to the wrong people- so now we are offering them for the highest bidder.

Please only serious offers, don’t waste our time.

Hoax? Well, maybe, but the message was accompanied by a lot of vaguely official-looking data which is presumably meant to be a sample. T-Mobile, for their part, seem to be investigating it as though the threat was credible. “As is our standard practice, if there is any evidence that customer information has been compromised, we would inform those affected as soon as possible,” said a spokesperson.

The people behind the Full Disclosure board say that they have a lot of ‘drivel’ posted on their forums, so let’s not all start panicking yet. The email address included on the post has not responded to queries.
