ViewSonic nettop takes on the Mac MiniLike the size of the Mac mini, but you’ve got an inherent hatred of all things Apple? ViewSonic has the solution for you: the ViewSonic PC mini VOT530 dinky desktop. Read on to find out what features are squished away inside!

The ViewSonic nettop is still a sight bigger than the fit-PC Slim, but then it has to be able to squeeze in a DVD drive. Like the Mac mini, it’s a desktop you’ll be able to hook up just about anywhere, from your kitchen to underneath your HDTV (It measures just 50x165x165mm), and it more than matches it in the specs department.

Mac mini unboxed

Inside the ViewSonic PC mini, you’ll find a 2GHz Core 2 Duo processor, Intel GM45 + ICH9M chipset, 2 or 4GB of RAM and a respectable 250GB HDD, plus 4 USB ports, ethernet and Wi-Fi, with Windows Vista sitting on top of it all.

The one draw back is a lack of HDMI in the ViewSonic PC mini, unlike the latest Eee Box from Asus, but if speed is your game, this will thrash any Atom-powered PC any day of the week. Unfortunately, there’s no word on pricing or availability for the ViewSonic PC mini nettop, but ViewSonic’s been known to drop tiny computers over here in the UK so we might not be waiting too long.
