Hello and welcome to my blog for the ASUS Bamboo U6.
When it came to choosing a laptop for this project I was immediately attracted to the ASUS Bamboo. I had never seen a laptop made of anything but plastic and find the increasing throwaway aspect of electronic products such as mobile phones a worrying thing in the current environmental state we’re in.
The packaging was quite impressive a sleek black box arrived and next to it stood an ASUS branded carry case. The attention to detail inside astounded me – almost everything was branded with the bamboo image and contained alongside the laptop was: not 1 but 2 batteries; a small personal organiser with a bamboo cover; a carry pouch with bamboo image; the battery charger (obviously); a small wood effect mouse and even a cable tie and cleaning cloth. These extras were a very nice touch although I felt them all being individually wrapped in plastic bags did take away from the environmentally friendly vision.
So here I am writing my first blog; it has been one of those weeks where every piece of technology has failed in my presence – PC; Internet connection; and just now: my digital camera! So it was with great relief that the set-up went smoothly.
Inserting the battery to charge was easy. I was surprised it didn’t fit flush alongside the back of the computer at first but it doesn’t take away from the overall look and probably adds some stability.
15 minutes after pressing the on button, my Bamboo is up and running and I’m typing this – I even have the sample music playing – not bad!
The mouse pad is a little strange as you can feel the texture of the wood on you finger but this isn’t unpleasant. The buttons on the pad are a little stiff and I’d rather tap the pad than try to use these. It even appears to have a fingerprint scanner for security…I think I’ll be reading the instructions before attempting this!
Everything is pretty impressive so far and I look forward to telling you more in my next entry.
Thank you for reading my blog,
Love,
Lauren xxx
