If this was in iPhone OS 3.0, we suspect we’d have heard something about it already, but this Apple patent could be something to look forward to for the next iPhone revamp: the ability to share songs and media with the person you’re talking to during the call.
This newly discovered Apple patent outlines how an iPhone could be used to transfer files to the person you’re having conversation with, whilst you chat. According to the patent, credited to Apple engineer Jeffrey Terlizzi, the iPhone OS would provide an option to “Add Media” during calls and sling them over without having to go to all the fuss of attaching and emailing.
The new iPhone: what we know so far
The iPhone owner down the other end of the line meanwhile would be able to play or open the song, picture, video or podcast as soon as they’re downloaded. It’s a nice social media sharing touch, if it does ever get factored in for new iPhone software.
Networks could prove resistant to something like this, but this seems like the next logical step after 3G iTunes downloads on the iPhone, so while it likely won’t be appearing in 4 days’ time, it might not be so far off.
