One of our very favourite music apps, Shazam, has just landed on Nokia’s brand new Ovi Store. Shazam is a music discovery tool that enables you to hold your phone out whenever you hear a tune you want to identify, using that snippet to work out what it is from its 8 million track database. It’ll probably have a tough time with John Cage’s 4’33” though.
We’ve already made great use of Shazam on iPhone, Android and BlackBerry, and now you can tax its musical brain using your S60 v5 and S60 3.1 & 3.2 Nokia handsets. Sounds like it’ll be a particularly neat addition to any Comes With Music handset, such as the Nokia 5800.
At the time of writing, we couldn’t find it within the Ovi Store, although that could be as much to do with the still shaky search system on Ovi as anything else. Let us know if you have any better luck. The software costs a one-off payment of five Euros.
