Home cinema fans, assemble! Pioneer has just ripped the wrappers off three new Blu-ray players, all with BD-Live functionality: the BDP-LX52, BDP-320 and BDP-120. Read on for all the juicy hi-def details.
Heading up the Blu-ray player trio is the high-end Pioneer BDP-LX52, which is the first Blu-ray player in the world to feature Pioneer’s new Precision Quartz Lock System, or PQLS. This ensures that, when you’ve got the player connected to a PQLS-compatible AV receiver via HDMI, there’s absolutely no jitter on the audio. A feature for the true home cinema perfectionists, that.
The BDP-LX52 and mid-range BDP-320 both include internal memory for BD-Live download storage, while the entry-level BDP-120 supports storage via an included 2GB flash drive. All three models have USB ports.
The BDP-LX52 and BDP-320 come with pro-level digital audio converters, plus support for 48-bit Deep Colour – you’ll need to have a display that also supports it too, mind you.
All three Blu-ray players support 1080p video at 24fps. The BDP-320 will be available later this month, priced at around £400. The BDP-120 (£270) and BDP-LX52 (£550) will arrive in July.
