HTC has just sent out a bunch of “save the date” invites for a 24th June launch event in London. So just what is the smartphone specialist about to unveil? The invitation itself gives no clue as to what the device (or devices) will be, but there are a few possibilities we can think of.
Firstly there’s the HTC Hero, a third HTC Android-powered phone (following up the T-Mobile G1 and HTC Magic) that was leaked earlier this year, first in garish pink livery, then in a rather more tasteful grey finish.
Then there’s the HTC Lancaster, yet another Android-powered HTC handset destined to launch on AT&T in the US. Perhaps HTC has plans for a UK release too?
There’s another option too: it could be a completely new device, something we haven’t heard a peep about thus far. Unwired View makes the point that, the last time HTC held a launch like this, it was for the HTC Touch Diamond last year.
Looks like we’ll have to wait until 24th June to find out for certain. But rest assured we’ll be there to bring you all the juicy details on whatever it is the HTC guys and gals have up their sleeves.
