Acer prepping Android computersWe know Acer has been prepping an Android phone for some time, but the company’s just confirmed an Android netbook is on the way for Q3, meaning it could be yours by the Summer!

Acer has only just joined the Android Open Handset Alliance, but it’s been apparent to watchers that an Android phone was on the way since Mobile World Congress back in February. But Acer also let slip that it was tinkering with Android on computers too, and now it looks like those experiments are about to bear fruit.

Android Eee PC: first video

Acer’s president for IT products, Jim Wong, just announced at Computex that Acer will start slapping Android netbooks on shelves from the third quarter of this year: if Acer makes the start of that window, we could be talking under a month from now!

Of course, it looks like Acer will have some stiff competition in the shape of a fanless and super slim Asus Eee PC running Android, but we’ve got digits crossed that’ll spur an Android Acer Aspire netbook to market even quicker.
