Zune HD: first video! The Zune HD is out and about, strutting its stuff in the wild already, and the first video of the iPod touch toppler is already here. Come take a look!

Microsoft’s OLED PMP, the Zune HD, has been rumoured for a while, but Redmond finally pulled the trigger and made it official earlier this week. Now though it’s broke free of the labs and made it in to the open. Eyeing it up close, it’s surprising how much the Zune HD looks like a HTC Touch Diamond2, although it’s definitely thinner.

Zune HD unveiled

You can see the Zune HD in action in the video below, but what stands out most about it is the smooth UI. Scrolling and swiping through the polished menus looks stunning, and the accelerometer kicks in immediately when you flip it on its side.

The Zune HD may not be an iPod touch beater just yet without the apps (Though as you can see, the Zune HD marketplace menu option is present already), but it’s certainly going to rival the Sony X Series Walkman from the word go. Assuming the Zune HD comes out here, eh Microsoft? Have a look at the hands-on video below while we wait for Microsoft to take the hint already.

If this thing makes it out over here in 2009 I will be very shocked indeed. Microsoft are well and truly on the list of people who don’t bring their best stuff out over here. Right next to Amazon!

It’s a mystery to me. So long as a device is only Wi-Fi and not broadband-enabled (Networks then complicate things per country I guess), there’s no issue surely. And like the iPod touch and X Series Walkmna, the Zune HD is Wi-Fi only. Just shoot yourself in the foot why don’t you Microsoft.
