Xbox LIVE is to start streaming Sky Player to your telly from the Autumn, making the Xbox 360 the first console to pipe through live TV!
Microsoft and Sky have just inked a fantastic new deal for Xbox LIVE users that brings Sky Player, Sky’s online TV service, to the console. The partnership means that everything from the latest movies to Premiership football and other Sky Sports highlights will be available through your console.
If you don’t already subscribe to Sky, price wise, Sky Player for Xbox LIVE will offer different monthly packages, or pay-per-view if you don’t want to go down direct debit road. What’s got us excited though is the promise that Sky Player on Xbox LIVE will offer interactive services and applications for programme genres, which promises to beat pressing the red button anyday.
Sky Player will come to Xbox LIVE in the Autumn, with more details and precise programming to be revealed closer to the launch, so we’ll keep our ears peeled to the airwaves for you.

Errm you of course know that Sky already have a deal with Sony for PSP video services, and you can use SkyPlayer (and iPlayer and the ITV ondemand thing) with the PS3, using the browser. Hulu is also coming to PS3 this summer.
It’s not as new as Microsoft want you to think.
The prospect of having to pay Microsoft Live subscription AND Sky subscription should mean this remains firmly in the niche pile.
