It might not connect to a PS3. It might not have a whopping great 12.1 megapixel camera, but the Sony Ericsson Yari is still worth a look. It’s packing astoundingly clever motion control tech, for what Sony Ericsson is calling “gesture gaming”.
The Sony Ericsson Yari will launch in the fourth quarter of the year, with games delivered via Sony Ericsson’s PlayNow service. They use next-gen motion tech, sensing where you are, as well as how you’re swinging the phone.
The upshot is that you can play tennis, or boxing, using nothing but the phone and a few haphazard swings of a wrist.
We hear two player games are even on the cards, and Sony Ericsson’s even going after Wii Fit, with exercise-em-ups on the Sony Ericsson Yari. Fancy getting fit with your phone? Soon, it’ll be turning you into a mobile-toting Mr Motivator.
What else is inside? A few niceties. A 5 megapixel camera, the ability to share your location using SMS, and “Music Call” – the ability to “share your favourite tracks while your talk”… sounds horrific to us, but Sony Ericsson’s pretty hyped about it.
