Sonix7 Media Box hands-on

We bumped into the Sonix7 PMP range earlier this month, with their stonking battery life and Made In Britain label, but now we’ve got one of our own to test out, the Sonix7 Media Box. Can it take on the American iPods and Japanese Walkmans of the world? See for yourself right here!

Generic MP4 players are ten a penny, but ones made nearer Sheffield than Shenzhen are pretty unusual, and ones which play video for 20 hours per charge even rarer. The Sonix7 Media Box is both of these things though, letting you watch movies on a 3.2-inch screen for an entire transatlantic flight without running out of juice.

It may not be much to look at, but the Sonix7 Media Box offers impressive file support (MP3, WAV, AAC, MP4, AVI, Xvid) and up to 16GB of storage that match the iPod nano for less moolah.

We’ve only been playing with the Sonix7 Media Box for a little while, but we’ve encountered a few problems: the menu is slow to use, there’s no 3.5mm audio jack so it’s adapter time once again, and frankly, it’s enormous. But you can’t argue with a claimed battery life like that, so we’re off to test it out to see if it does just that. Stick around for the results.
