The Nokia Home Control Center, Nokia’s bid to get you controlling your home through your blower, has been spun off to another company, and will be delayed until next year at the earliest.
We loved what the Finnish phone company had planned for Nokia Home Control Center when we first heard of it last year: with one snapped on to your Wi-Fi, you could turn on the heating on the bus home, or set a TV show to record from your desk at work.

Sadly though the Nokia Home Control Center has run into trouble. Nokia is ducking out of the smart house market and has handed the reigns and license over to another company, There Corporation. The upshot is we won’t be seeing the Nokia Home Control Center, even under another name, until at least 2010 in “Selected European countries”. The Nokia Home Control Center successor will still work with Nokia S60 phones, but if you were hoping to warm your cockles with the power of Wi-Fi, it looks like you’ll be getting cold feet first.
