new-iphone-no-oledHoping the new iPhone would sport an OLED screen, like the new Sony X Series Walkman and Zune HD? Don’t be so sure: a wholesaler has just posted for sale what it says are the parts for the new iPhone, and the screen is still very much LCD.

We’ve heard a few rumours that the new iPhone, expected to be unveiled at WWDC next month, would sport an OLED touchscreen to chuck out dazzling colours and improve battery life, but if the parts on China Ontrade are for real, the new iPhone will still pack an LCD screen. This would match with rumours that the new iPhone will keep the current price point, as OLED screens are still costly.

The new iPhone: what we know

Interestingly, the site also stocks what it says is the new iPhone bezel, which appears to have ditched the silver trim, and both are ready to ship within 12 working days. There are just 7 until Apple’s WWDC keynote, so is this confirmation that the new iPhone will be on show come 8 June? We say the forecast is sunny.

I don’t think it will bother iPhone/iPod users, as it’s not like anything to do with the performance or technical specs matter, if it’s got slick marketing, they will open their wallets simply because it’s apple, and they must be seen with one.

Specs do matter, but it’s real-life specs that count. The current screen is fantastic but more importantly the user experience is way ahead of the competition. I have friends who have bought other brand smartphones because the specs appeared better, and they are constantly complaining about them and hitting them when they don’t respond.

Ahh, well. Looks like the Palm Pre is the winner then.
