Microsoft Bing hoping to be search king

May 26th, 2009

Microsoft logoMicrosoft Bing will be the new name for Microsoft‘s search engine to take on Google and Yahoo!, according to new reports. Bing? No, us neither, but read on to find out what Redmond’s planning.

Microsoft has been prepping a new search engine to help make it a big player online for some time, but until now it was believed to be called Kumo. Now, though, AdvertisingAge reports that the Google rival will be called Microsoft Bing, and it looks to be rolling out with a massive ad campaign very soon, costing somewhere in the region of $80-$100m (£50-60m).

Not much is known about Microsoft Bing, although leaked screenshots suggest that a “Related Catgeories” feature, throwing up useful information around a search just like the incoming Google Squared, will be a big selling point.

Bing.com is currently blank at the moment, so it’s certainly possible that Microsoft is prepping the page: CEO Steve Ballmer is expected to unveil the new Microsoft Bing search engine later this week so we may know sooner than later. Seriously though, Bing? Consider us stuck firmly on the fence on this one.

Yay, another Microsoft search engine. Thats about 6 Google killers they have launched so far… Didn’t they say the last one would kill Google?

About the only way you will get anyone using anything other than google these days, is by paying them… A search engine that pays the users to use it… Hmmm…..
